Researchers at NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) in the USA have dropped 90 rubber ducks into holes of Greenland's Jakobshavn Glacier in Baffin Bay. The Jakabshavn Glacier is the Greenland's fastest moving glacier. Scientists are hoping the ducks will help show how water moves through ice and why glaciers move more quickly in the summer. The ducks are labeled with the words "science experiment" and "reward" in three languages, along with an email address.
Two of our readers (rduckie09 and dutchducky) already posted this in the Forum, but I've gotten at least a half dozen emails about it since then from various corners of the world. Such a newsworthy rubber duck event should obviously be posted here on the front page.
